  1. Self-care. Put yourself first.
  2. Don’t do it alone – work with a coach, mentor or trusted colleague.
  3. Stay anchored with the help of your family and friends. Choose who you surround yourself with.
  4. Manage your expectations – there are ups and downs in life. No-one enjoys work all the time!
  5. Know when to quit – think about your long-term plans.
  6. Take a ‘reflective practitioner’ approach to life – what have you learned and how can you apply it later in life?
  7. Break it down – what can you do now to move towards the goal? Don’t try and achieve the whole thing at once.
  8. Volunteer – do something nice for someone else. It gives you some perspective on your own situation and gives you a feel-good boost.
  9. Have a mantra e.g. ‘I’m here, I want to be here, I deserve to be here’.
  10. Remind yourself that you are resilient – it is something that you have been developing all your life through all your experiences.
